About Me – Freya Collington Exploring the World of Sports Journalism through My Lens
Who I Am: I’m Freya Collington, a recent graduate of Exeter University with a 2:1 in BA Drama. During my time at Exeter, I held the role of Head of Media for the Exeter University Men’s 1st XV. My journey involved a delicate balance between my academic endeavours and my enthusiasm for sports, all with the aim of sharing the excitement of Rugby in an engaging and accessible way, leveraging all aspects of media
My Journey Driven by Passion: My story began as a full-time Drama student at the University of Exeter. Whilst pursuing my studies, I discovered my true calling in sports journalism. For 2 years, I led the media efforts for Exeter University Men’s 1st XV, with my primary focus on supporting and promoting this exceptional team, through a wide range of media.
Bringing You Closer to the Action: My ‘lens’ captures the heart-pounding moments on the field. I meticulously covered the BUCS Super Rugby League games and the National League West 2 fixtures, providing insights, match reports, interviews, and articles with the goal of making the game more relatable.
My Aspirations for the Future: While currently managing my academic goals and responsibilities, together with my role for the Exeter University Men’s 1st XV, my ultimate aspiration is to transition into a full-time career in sports journalism. Primarily, I would love to home in on rugby as the sport of my choice, channelling my passion into sharing the remarkable stories and moments that make this game so special. My genuine love for the game shines through in every piece I create and every moment I capture.
